UNSINKABLE SAM

Unsinkable Sam was a ship's cat who served with the Kriegsmarine and the Royal Navy during World War II. Amazingly, Sam survived the sinking of three ships!

The black and white cat was initially named Oscar and later became known as Unsinkable Sam. He started his career in the German Kriegsmarine and ended it in the British Royal Navy. Sam served on board the KMS Bismarck, the HMS Cossack, and the HMS Ark Royal and survived the sinking of all three ships. Thus the name Unsinkable Sam.
